Pulled out of Toronto today and headed for Niagara Falls, which is on the other side of Lake Ontario and a little over an hour away. Toronto has been really great. I wish we had more time here.
We decided to spend the first chunk of time at NF at Marineland, because Ben really wanted to see dolphins. If the only aquarium you have ever been to is the one at Stanley Park, you will think the NF Marineland is awesome. But if you have been to Seaworld in San Diego, you will think it is impossibly lame. But its probably the best you get in Canada. There are a lot – at least 4 or 5 – different animals you can feed there, which is always a kid turn-on, including bears and belugas (the latter cost eight bucks for 30 second feeding experience and you get to pet them too!)
After Marineland we went up the Skylon tower and watched their 4D movie, which was horrible. The tower was OK. Nice view over the whole area. The Canadian NF is much more built up than the US NF, though just to the East is Buffalo (I think) which is a major city.
Finally, no stop to NF is complete without going to Clifton Hill. This is the main tourist area and looks a bit like Las Vegas all compressed into one city block. There must be 10-20 kitschy businesses packed into this one area, stuff like Ripleys, Guinness, a million haunted houses, etc. As usual, it was much later than we would have liked by the time, and we only went to Ripley’s. Sam really likes this place. The one in NF is not all that different from the one on SF, which we went to at Spring Break last year.
